A Canadian tourist who was assaulted in Dublin city centre last month has died in hospital.

The man who was aged in his 40s was attacked on O'Connell Street and Cathal Brugha Street in the early hours of Sunday June 23rd.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for his injuries, where he has since passed away.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the assault.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident with two of them having been charged and appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice.

Investigators have issued a callout to anyone who was near the Living Room Bar on Cathal Brugha Street between 12:40am and 1am to contact them.

They also wish to speak to anyone who was on O’Connell Street Upper, opposite the Spire near the Spar shop, Funland and Tourism Office, between 12.40am and 1am.

Anyone who has camera footage from the area is also asked to make it available to Gardaí.
