A car and building caught fire in Trim, County Meath earlier this week.

On Monday this week, flames were spotted in a building in the Effernock area of the town at 11.30pm.

No one was hurt but a vehicle was later also found on fire in nearby Maudlin Vale.

Gardaí have carried out an inspection of the building and are now investigating it as a case of criminal damage.

They are keen to talk to anyone who was in the area between 10.30pm and midnight on Monday - especially those who have dash cam footage.

They have also asked people to keep any eye out for anyone in the area with unexplained burns on their hands.
