A 28 year old pedestrian has been badly injured after being hit by a car in Cork.

It happened at around ten to four this morning on Kilmallock Road in Charleville.

He was rushed to Limerick Regional Hospital.

The occupants of the car were not injured.

The road is closed for a forensic examination.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them in Charlevill
