The off-duty that died in a boat fire in Carrick-on-Shannon in the early hours of Monday morning has been named as Garda Deirdre Finn.
Garda Finn was the only fatality following the accident, which Gardaí are investigating as a tragic incident.
The scene is currently preserved and the boat has been removed to a secure location for a technical examination.
Garda Finn was attached to Dun Laoghaire Garda station, and a Family Liaison Officer has been provided to Deirdre's family.
In a statement released by An Garda Síochána, they said Garda Management will "provide support to Deirdre's family and her colleagues locally and within the wider organisation where required".
