Gardaí in Co Carlow are appealing for information following a cash in transit robbery which occurred this afternoon at the Aldi Supermarket in Bagenalstown.
At around 3 O'Clock, two men drove up to the entrance of the Aldi Supermarket in a black BMW coupe car while a security van was making a collection.
One masked man armed with what was described as a firearm threatened a security guard and took a cash box containing a substantial amount of cash.
The raiders escaped in the BMW.
In a follow up search the cash box and its contents were discovered on Dunleckney Road, however, the cash box had exploded on opening and destroyed the cash with red dye.
