A cat who went missing from Northern Ireland back in 2019 has been reunited with his owners hundreds of kilometres away.
Blueberry had gone missing from his home in Co Down five years ago but his family never gave up hope.
A few days ago they got a call to say their cat had turned up in Galway.
The family travelled down to be reunited with their beloved pet and are now back together in Bangor.
A man had apparently noticed Blueberry outside a supermarket in the village of Moycullen and took him to a local vet.
The cat had a microchip but no match was found in Ireland's pet database.
A wider search across Europetnet, which includes national and local associations based across Europe, ultimately matched Blueberry to an address in Northern Ireland.
A Facebook page for missing pets, which had appealed for Blueberry's return, said the story shows 'the power of microchipping'.
