Small businesses employ 65% of people in Ireland. Whether that's your local greengrocer, hairdresser or independent cafe, we have all felt the urge to support local over the last year throughout the pandemic. If we want our communities to thrive, we need to support them.
In fact, if every adult in Ireland spent just €20 extra every week in a small business, this would inject €875 million into our local economy over a 12-month period. That translates to sustainable employment but even more importantly, the sustainability and growth of vibrant and energetic communities and creative and cultural industries right across the country.
That's why Champion Green was created in 2020. It is a national movement with a grand coalition of government agencies, industry, business and the public's support in driving the recovery of our local communities and economy in this post-pandemic period. The initiative is also supported by Kilkenny Design and Visa, in association with Retail Excellence, Small Firms Association, Chambers Ireland, Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC and An Post Commerce.

To celebrate its one-year anniversary, Champion Green and Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC are giving one small business the chance to win six months free rental on a prime retail unit in Blackrock Village Centre in Co.Dublin worth €20,000.
