Central Bank pays almost €300,000 to safeguard former-Anglo building

Figures released by the Central Bank reveal it has paid nearly €300,000 to date to the Carlow-based security firm, Netwatch to secure its new Headquarter building on Dublin’s Docklands, the building, originally intended by the former Anglo Irish Bank as its HQ.

The Central Bank recently announced that Walls Construction had been awarded the near €70m tender to complete the building, which is expected to be ready for occupation by 1400 staff late next year.

The Central Bank bought the half-built block in 2012 for €8m - a total of €16.2m has been spent on the site.

The figures show that architects, Henry J Lyons has received €2m for architect and construction advisory fees to date.

Dublin City Council also received received €1.7m from the Central Bank in connection with the project, Lisney has received €153,750 in fees and €678,993 has been paid to legal firm, McCann Fitzgerald.

Meanwhile, the jury will return to court this morning in the trial of former Anglo Irish Bank Chairman Sean FitzPatrick.

The jury of six men and six women was sworn in on April 14 last but no evidence has been heard, as the case has been in legal argument.

The 66-year-old of Whitshed Road, Greystones has pleaded not guilty to 27 offences over the disclosure of loans from the Irish Nationwide Building Society from 2002 to 2007.

Included are 21 charges of making a misleading, false or deceptive statement to auditors and six charges of furnishing false information.
