The funeral of CervicalCheck campaigner Lynsey Bennett will take place today in Longford.
The 34-year-old was diagnosed with cancer following alleged misinterpretation of smear slides in 2017.
Afterwards, Ms Bennett sued the HSE and US lab that did the testing, in the end settling for an undisclosed sum.
She said that the settlement meant her two daughters, Zoe and Hayley, would be able to live without having to worry about money when they got older.
Following her death on Thursday, her family said in a statement:
"It is with great sadness that the family of Lynsey Bennett wish to announce that Lynsey passed away peacefully last night.
"Lynsey was a very special person.
"Lynsey’s beautiful girls, father, sisters, family and friends are heartbroken at the passing of Lynsey at the young age of 34 years and would appeal for privacy at the moment."
The funeral service will take place at midday in St. John’s Church on Battery Road in Longford and the interment will be in the adjoining graveyard.
