Keep up to date with the latest tech featured at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show this week with Newstalk's Jess Kelly.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) takes place every year in Las Vegas in Nevada, America.
Between today and Friday, over 130,000 people will descend upon the Vegas strip to get an insight into the latest developments in the world of tech.
While the event used to be known mostly for smartphone device launches from companies like Google and Samsung, tech developments have since expanded into every aspect of life.
Newstalk’s Tech Correspondent Jess Kelly is attending the event, and told The Pat Kenny Show about some of the new inventions she has seen so far.

“It wouldn’t be CES if it wasn’t for the weird and wonderful,” she said.
“One thing that’s getting a lot of attention is a new robot vacuum cleaner – and the point of difference with this is that it has an arm.
“So, rather than just bumping into items on your floor, say if there’s a pair of socks left on the floor, this has a detachable arm that reaches out, can remove items, place them out of the way, and then continue to vacuum the floor.”
Another early star-performer at the event was the Samsung stretchable TV screen.
“So, if something appears on the screen, it can jump out, kind of like a realistic 3D TV,” Jess said.
“You don’t need the glasses; you don’t need the goggles – items can emerge and protrude from the screen.
“That is definitely one that possibly is a bit of a gimmick, but it’s exciting to see the innovation nonetheless.”
According to Jess, there will also be plenty of techy cars to check out.
“I’ll be going to the BMW press conference, and they’re going to showcase the next iteration of the technology inside their cars,” she said.
“If you’ve bought a car in the last few years, you’ll know that the infotainment system inside the car, it’s an integral part of a vehicle now, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have to show off in the next few hours.”
Jess said there are thousands of companies and startups showcasing at the event.
