Newstalk reporter Henry McKean rarely shies away from a challenge (he went through simulated labour a couple years ago!), but lately, he'll admit, he hasn't been putting the effort in the gym.
"Recently I have been skipping Fit Squad.ie bootcamp so my weight has ballooned"
To get him back in the saddle, Henry went along to the School of Health and Human Performance at Dublin College University (DCU) to undergo some fitness tests while cycling on an exercise bike.
Professor Niall Moyna and his team put Henry through his paces as they monitored his progress - thanks to the 10 electrodes attached to his chest, which essentially act like "cameras to the heart".
Take a look at how Henry got on:
Takeaway Tip: Three things you should know about cycling...
- Cycling is the quickest mode of transport in an urban environment for trips up to 6kms
- The average car produces 1.3 tonnes of carbon emissions. A bike produces none
- Cycling speed is approximately three times that of walking speed
Keep an eye out next week, when Henry will be going back to basics to learn some simple but very effective exercises that you could benefit from too!
