Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan is 'back at his desk' following a short absence yesterday.
Dr Holohan - who has become one of the key public faces of Ireland's response to the coronavirus crisis through the daily briefings in recent weeks - was absent yesterday as he was undergoing tests in hospital.
It came after he appeared unwell at Tuesday evening's briefing.
He confirmed yesterday that the tests at St James's Hospital were unrelated to the COVID-19 virus.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn instead led last night's media briefing.
At a press conference this morning, Liz Canavan from the Department of the Taoiseach confirmed that Dr Holohan was now 'back at his desk' following his short absence.
