The government is expected to review the results of the Children’s Referendum when the Cabinet meets today.
Ministers were surprised at the strength of the No vote and the low turnout.
They will also discuss the successful Supreme Court challenge to the government information campaign in the run-up to the vote.
The result of the referendum vote on Sunday went the way the government had hoped but the size of the No vote has surprised ministers.
Today the Cabinet is expected to discuss the result and review the reasons why the No vote was so strong.
Minister has ‘every confidence’
Ministers are also expected to discuss the merits of Saturday voting in the wake of such a low turnout.
The Taoiseach said last week that the government will also review the Supreme Court ruling last week which found the government illegally used public money to put out a one-sided argument.
The Attorney-General Maire Whelan will be in the spotlight after ministers said she advised the government on its legal position prior to the publication of the information.
Education Minister Ruairi Quinn said this morning he is happy with the Attorney-General and will listen to her response.
