A 36-year-old Chinese man has gone on trial accused of kicking a man to death outside a Dublin city internet cafe.
Zhen Dong-Zhao of Jervis Street in Dublin denies murdering 40-year-old Noel Fegan on May 20th 2011 at e-Times internet café on Wellington Quay.
Opening the trial prosecution counsel Pauline Walley told the jury it is contended this vicious assault happened 2 days after Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Dublin last year.
The court has heard that methadone user Mr. Fegan was at the Focus Ireland centre for the homeless in Temple Bar watching a game with a friend when his young daughter sent him a "Call Me" text.
He had no credit and so used a phone booth at the e-Times internet café on Wellington Quay.
Row over 70 cent
He had a row over the 70 cent bill with Mr. Dong-Zhao who ran the café and at some point slapped him in the face.
It is alleged the accused chased him out the door and kicked him in the head, body and neck as he lay on the ground.
The jury has heard Noel Fegan was pronounced dead a very short time later.
The prosecution says there were a number of eyewitnesses in the internet cafe and at a nearby bus stop that will give evidence.
The trial is expected to last up to 2 weeks.
