Hundreds of families in the Dublin area will have their turkey and ham on Christmas Day this year, courtesy of Brendan O'Carroll.
The comedian and creator of the phenomenally successful Mrs Brown's Boys has donated a substantial number of vouchers for turkey and ham to the Dublin region of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
As a result many families who might have missed out on this traditional Christmas meal will not be disappointed.
Andy Doogue, President of the SVP Dublin Region thanked Brendan O'Carroll. "This is a really generous donation given in an imaginative yet practical way. This year in particular we are receiving requests for food more than ever.
Our volunteers will ensure that families who are most in need will benefit from Brendan O'Carroll's generosity."
Calls for support to the SVP in Dublin have been increasing substantially in recent years. This year the region estimates that it will have received 75,000 calls for support. Andy Doogue said, " With such a level of calls our resources are fully stretched and we welcome all donations, whether financial or in the form of goods which can either be distributed directly to those in need or sold in our Vincent shops. The Irish public have been extremely generous to the SVP in the past and we are dependent on them to continue their support into the future."
