Today is one of the busiest days of the year for people travelling home for Christmas. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is reminding motorists to take extra care on the roads with further bad weather forecast.

The RSA is urging people to slow down. Over 170 people lost their lives on the countries roads this year.

The RSA says the number of motorcyclists who died has also increased.

Meanwhile Dublin Airport is expecting its busiest day of the year before Christmas with about 660,000 passengers expected to travel through the airport between December 20th to January 2nd.

Today is expected to be the busiest day before Christmas there - with more than 70,000 passengers due to arrive and depart - while December 27th is expected to be the busiest day after Christmas, particularly with passengers heading to skiing destinations.

The buildings have been decked out with 88,000 lights, 102 Christmas trees and five Santas and school choirs will welcome travellers home.

More than 800 carol singers from local schools and choirs will perform in both terminals in the days leading up to Christmas.

These people told Newstalk about who they were expecting.
