Hollywood actor Christopher Walken believes the funniest comedy comes from “serious” situations.

The legendary film star has he has come to be known as one of the best comic actors. He believes the secret to successfully making people laugh is to play roles in a solemn manner.
“Sometimes things are really funny if you’re absolutely earnest. If you’re really serious, it’s hilarious,” he explained to Moviefone.
“I never know when I am being funny. I don’t think you can try to be funny. Some people are just funny. Everybody’s got an uncle who’s funny, and if they say you’re funny, they’ll look at you like, ‘What? What’s so funny?’”
In his latest role in the dark comedy drama Seven Psychopaths, Christopher plays one of seven murderous lunatics from the Los Angeles criminal underworld. The dark and twisted humour in the movie is just the sort of comedy that tickles him in real life.
“Yeah, I thought it was funny,” Christopher revealed. “There is a lot of funny stuff in this movie; sometimes somebody does something and then it’s the way people react.”
The award-winning actor believes the best comics are the intelligent ones who steer well clear of the slapstick humour.
“I would say its about stage presence. And attitude and how small they are. If somebody says something says something and you get the feeling that it’s stupid, it’s not funny,” he explained.
“I feel like there’s a fine line between funny-ridiculous and just plain old ridiculous.”
