Three trustees of a charismatic Christian movement have purged their contempt and given solemn undertakings to the High Court not to obstruct bank-appointed receivers from taking possession of three of their properties in Dublin.

Gerry Byrne, Brendan Hade and his wife Sheila of the Victory Christian Fellowship were ordered into court after a judge was told the congregation was staging a sit-in.

It was alleged the trustees were behind an organised campaign to stop receivers taking possession of the properties in Stillorgan, Tallaght and Westland Row in Dublin city.

A judge heard on a previous occasion that the congregation of the Victory Christian Fellowship had been told the receivers actions are 'not legal in the name of Jesus'.

Bank of Scotland is taking possession of the properties over unpaid loans of €18 million.

Judge Paul Gilligan heard the receivers overwhelming concern is that the handover of the 3 properties at 2pm next Monday will be peaceful and that gardai are happy to be present to ensure there is no breach of the peace.

Trustee Gerry Byrne told the judge they were very upset that a receiver had locked them out of their church on Westland Row. He said they had been in the church business for 25 years and in that time all sorts of people have come through the doors. He described it as a charismatic movement for Protestants and Catholics.

The court heard the congregation is hosting an international army of Christian worshippers this weekend to pray for the G8 conference. The trustees claim they had an arrangement with the bank and do not know why the plug has been pulled.
