Cillian Murphy has won lead actor at the Irish Film and Television Awards.

Bad Sisters, Say Nothing, Saoirse Ronan and Kneecap are also among the winners so far.

Lola Petticrew has been named Best Actress for Say Nothing, while the Kneecap film has picked up the award for costume design, Best Director and casting so far, out of a total of 17 potential awards.

Colin Farrell has been named lead actor in a drama.

Cillian Murphy's film has taken home a win in the Lead Film Actor, Best Film Script and Best Film categories.

Murphy said there was a "great responsibility" in making the film.

"So many people read the book, it's on the curriculum, my son's doing the Leaving, so I think it's amazing that the book has been taken to heart so much in the country," he said.

"Then we just felt a great responsibilty to be faithful to the book and there's people walking around who have this as a real lived experience and it's affected so many people across the country, so we felt a great deal of responsibility."
