Cinemas are set to receive an 'updated' version of the film adaptation of Cats, with the update reportedly set to improve some visual effects.
The CGI-heavy musical was released on Friday to scathing reviews.
However, in an unusual move it's now reported that an updated version is being made available to cinemas in the US from today.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, theatre-owners were told by distributor Universal that the new version contains "some improved visual effects".
The changes won't impact the film's running time.
While the film has been widely panned both by reviewers and on social media, some critics have also suggested the film boasts some seemingly unintentional rough edges.
AV Club reviewer Ignatiy Vishnevetsky wrote: "[Many] effects appear unfinished, with noticeable differences in resolution and animation between principals and background characters and at least one instance in which a rendering error appears to have made it into the release version of the film."
Cats director Tom Hooper has confessed he didn't finish the film until hours before its premiere.
Speaking on the red carpet, he told Variety: “I finished it at 8am yesterday after 36 hours in a row.
“The premiere should be the first time people get to see it, and this is genuinely a premiere.”
