Irish citizens abroad are being asked for their opinions on whether they should get a vote.

The Constitutional Convention is asking emigrants to take an online survey asking if they should have a vote in Irish Presidential elections.

Emigrants are asked to go to www.constitution.ie to offer their thoughts.

The Convention on the Constitution has already received a number of submissions on this topic, but says it is" keen to ensure that as many Irish citizens as possible, particularly those resident abroad, are made aware of the opportunity of making an input to the Convention's deliberations".

The deadline for participation via the questionnaires is Wednesday September 18th.

The Convention chairman is Tom Arnold. He says the matter will be discussed in public hearings next month.
