An MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) is an extremely useful vehicle. If you have kids and you need the extra space this type of vehicle can be a real blessing. I have two kids, and while I know that’s not too many I’ve still opted for a seven-seat vehicle and my wife and I own a Renault Megane Grand Scenic. Practically it’s great. We can put the third row seats down and transform the rear into a massive boot space, and at the same time we can easily accommodate for driving our kids friends around. This week I tested another such vehicle, the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso.
The Grand C4 Picasso is among the more comfortable MPVs I’ve driven in the last year. It’s not as much fun as the Ford Galaxy, but I’m yet to come across an interior as spacious and as well laid-out. The front cabin is brilliantly laid out and there is an abundance of technology on offer in terms of infotainment. On the dash board you a 7” touch screen and a 12” panoramic HD screen, which believe it or not will even allow you to look at photos.
Adding to the spacious interior is the panoramic window surround the car. Everything feels bright and spacious.
The second row is sure to keep the kids happy. Again there is no lack of space here. Parents with three kids will really appreciate you can actually fit three child seats in the second row. Another nice touch here is that these seats are on rails which mean that when your kids decide they want to drag you on a play date, and you have to pick up their pals; you can push the second row forward, take out seats six and seven and make room for their noisy friends….way back in the boot.
Other than ferrying the kids around, this MPV has other uses too. If you put down rows two and three of the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso you can use it as a cargo mover, this car offers a staggering 2,181litres of space.
With all of this space you can be sure that Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is a large car, which means it has the potential of being difficult to park. Have no fear though, if you’re not the best at parking Citroen offer 360o Vision as an optional extra with these cars. It gives you an overhead view of where you’re about to park, oh and it also parks the car for you.
There is a wide range of Grand C4 Picasso engines available offering fuel economies of between 3.8 and 4.6 litres per 100km. CO2 emissions range between 98 and 120g/co2 per km which means that road tax will remain relatively inexpensive. The price range of the useful Grand C4 Picasso varies depending on trim. You can expect to pay from €26,795 for an entry level VTR trim, prices for the VTR+ start at €29,295. The Exclusive trim starts at €31,295 and the Exclusive + stretches up to €39,395.
