Five families in Co Clare are facing homelessness just days before Christmas.

The shocked families were given three days notice to leave their houses in Abbey West.

It follows on from a survey, which found they were "unsafe for habitation".

The notice to leave was served to the residents on Tuesday.

The families are seeking legal advice and are refusing to move out of their homes ahead of Christmas.

Resident Jim McKee told Clare FM that people are angered at the short notice, and the fact they have been informed so close to Christmas.
