A community in Cavan is mourning the death of a young local man who died in New Zealand.

It is reported that Martin Cadden, originally from Loughduff in Mullahoran and who was in his early 20s, died in a car accident in New Zealand on Friday.

The New Zealand Herald reports that his car hit a tree at Leeston, near Lake Ellesmere in Canterbury, at around 11.20pm local time.

It is understood Mr Cadden had been working in the country since late 2013.
