Gardaí targeting organised crime in Drogheda have seized cocaine worth around €1.4m and three guns in separate searches.
Investigators uncovered 20kgs of cocaine after stopping a searching a vehicle at the Donore Road Industrial Estate in Drogheda yesterday.
The car was stopped as part of Operation Stratus – which aims to tackle to the ongoing organised crime feud in the area.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is being held at Drogheda Garda Station.
In follow-up searches in the area later in the day, Gardaí found cannabis worth around €25,000.
Meanwhile, investigators found three handguns, assorted magazines and ammunition at a premises in the centre of Drogheda Town.
The searches, carried out at around 3:45pm yesterday, were also conducted as part of the operation targeting organised crime in the town.
A man in his late 30s was arrested. He is being held at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The Garda operation is ongoing.
