Pop-up vaccination centres are to open on college campuses later this month.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris says it aimed at getting even more students fully vaccinated.
Latest figures show that 78% of people aged 16 to 29 are fully vaccinated, compared to over 90% of the entire adult population.
Minister Harris says the pop-up clinics will be rolled out nationwide.
Some campuses are already home to dedicated vaccine centres, while others will now get these new pop-up centres.
Other students will be able to get a jab through on-campus GP clinics.
Minister Harris said: "22 colleges across the country will benefit from these iniatives... this will be hugely significant."
The Fine Gael minister has said college campuses have been largely closed for the past 18 months, but now tens of thousands of students are returning to college life.
He said it's a "massive level of reopening" that encompasses not just the return to lecture halls but also the return of societies and on-campus socialising.
Students going to college will need a vaccine certificate to access bars and restaurants under the current society-wide rules.
However, they will not need to be vaccinated to attend lectures.
Meanwhile, two dozen pop-up vaccine centres are operating nationwide today.
