Veteran comedian Sil Fox has requested a special sitting of Dublin District Court to hear his trial for an alleged sexual assault.
The 86-year-old entertainer, with an address at Wellington Lawn in Templeogue, is alleged to have assaulted a woman at a social event in Dublin
It is alleged to have taken place in a Dublin bar on December 17th last year, and the court has told CCTV evidence will be used at trial.
The footage has been provided to the defence lawyers and the prosecution also plans to call eight witnesses.
His trial, which is expected to take a full day, was due to get underway today but the court could only allocate two hours it.
A man, who was among those who accompanied Mr Fox to court today, stood before Judge Paula Murphy with the accused and told her if the case was put back for another few months, it was going to kill him.
Mr Fox's barrister also said these proceedings have had a very significant impact on his health over the past few months, and reminded the judge that he had indicated his intention to contest the charge at an early stage.
Both sides were reluctant to have the case part-heard, so it was decided to list it for mention next week when a full hearing date is likely to be set.
