The Taoiseach says the Cabinet will discuss an apology from Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.

The comments from Enda Kenny come after Ministers continue to say that the Commissioner should withdraw calling the actions of John Wilson and Sergeant Maurice McCabe, "disgusting".

Throughout the day we have had Minister Leo Varadkar stand by his comments, saying he is not resiling from his call on the Garda Commissioner to withdraw the word disgusting.

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore also stood by his call for the word to be withdrawn - and Minister Pat Rabbitte says the public mind is settled on the issue and the Commissioner would not want to ignore it.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Mr. Gilmore says it is a matter for the Minister for Justice himself, but that it would be "helpful" if the comments were withdrawn.

The Taoiseach has attended a radio conference being held in Dublin and despite signals that he would take media questions, his advisors decided he would not. But the media did get a few words.

Enda Kenny can push it back to tomorrow, but the Cabinet and the Garda Commissioner will at some point have to address this issue.
