A 35-year-old woman is suing Conor McGregor and another man for allegedly raping her in a hotel in Dublin six years ago.

Nikita Ní Laimhín, a hair colourist from Drimnagh, claims the UFC fighter got her into a stranglehold before she “subjected herself to what was about to happen.”

At the High Court today, Ms Ní Laimhín’s barrister reminded the jury that this is not a criminal trial.

He said it is a civil case about vindication and compensation for his client.

After going to her work Christmas party in 2018, he said Ms Ní Laimhín contacted Conor McGregor, who brought her and her friend to a penthouse suite in the Beacon Hotel.

On the way, they collected the second named defendant, James Lawrence, of Rafter’s Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12.

Alcohol and cocaine were consumed and at some point, she claims, Mr McGregor beckoned her to perform a sex act on him, which she refused.

She claims he then pinned her onto the bed and got her into an armlock until she couldn’t resist anymore.

In his defence, Conor McGregor says they were, "just having fun, a bit of rough sex,” and that it was all consensual.

Mr Lawrence claims he had consensual sex with Ms Ní Laimhín twice – something she has no recollection of and denies.
