This report contains details some readers may find distressing.

The woman claiming Conor McGregor raped her in a Dublin hotel six years ago has described his version of events as a ‘made-up story’.

Nikita Hand is suing Mr McGregor and another man at the High Court, claiming they both raped her at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018.

The 35-year-old claims Mr McGregor pinned her on a bed, got her into a chokehold and violently raped her on the night in question.

Mr McGregor and the other man named in the suit - James Lawrence of Rafter’s Road in Drimnagh - deny raping her, claiming that everything that happened on the night was consensual.

Hotel

On Day Three of the trial, Remy Farrell SC, put Mr McGregor’s version of events to Ms Hand.

He said his client was claiming that Ms Hand followed him into a bedroom in the penthouse suite of the Beacon Hotel and approached him while he was using the bathroom.

He said Mr McGregor claims that they started kissing while his belt and trousers were open.

He also claims that Ms Hand largely took her own clothes off and gave him oral sex before they had sex on the bed.

The UFC fighter also claims that Ms Hand had consensual sex with him a second time.

Ms Hand denied Mr McGregor’s version of events, describing it as a “made-up story”.

‘Panic’

Mr Farrell also cross-examined Ms Hand on some of the evidence she gave the court earlier this week.

Ms Hand had previously told the court that she woke up in a “panic” after the alleged rape; however, Mr Farrell put to her that her friend was also in the hotel at the time and Ms Hand never told her what she believed had happened.

Ms Hand said she did not remember what happened when she initially woke up – but that things started “slowly coming back” to her later in the evening.

CCTV

Mr Farrell also put to her that CCTV footage appears to show her being “very affectionate” with Mr McGregor after the alleged rape.

He said it is “blindly obvious” that one piece of footage shows her going over to hug Mr McGregor and appears to show her kissing his arm.

Ms Hand said that, in her view, the footage showed a “very drunken woman who didn’t know what she was doing,” adding that she should have been “looked after” and “brought home”.

When Mr Farrell put to her that all the CCTV footage shown to court during the trial so far “flatly contradicts” her version of events, she said the footage “doesn’t take away what happened to me in that room”.

Conversation

Mr Farrell also questioned Ms Hand about a conversation she had with her manager after the alleged attack.

He said the way she described the alleged attack in the conversation was “totally inconsistent” with the evidence she has given the court this week.

He said Ms Hand told her manager that she woke up with two bodyguards coming into the room and that she jumped up and ran out as soon as they entered.

He said she also claimed that she then ran off because she was afraid of being raped by a security guard.

He said she told her manager that she did not remember her other friend being in the hotel suite at the time.

Ms Hand said she was “all over the place” during the conversation and was not remembering things correctly.

Recording

The court also heard audio of a secret recording, made by Ms Hand’s former partner, of her telling him what happened after she returned home.

The court heard that Ms Hand only learned about the recording several weeks after it was taken.

In the recording, Ms Hand can be heard telling her boyfriend that she does not want to make a complaint to Gardaí.

Her boyfriend tells her that this “isn’t a shut up and say nothing situation,” adding that, “This thing about keeping quiet about stuff isn’t happening”.

She can be heard saying that she can’t tell him who allegedly assaulted her because “he’ll kill me”.

She tells him her body is sore and that she has been “sexually abused”.

The trial continues at the High Court today.
