This report contains details of a sexual nature that some readers may find distressing.
In his closing address in a civil legal action, Conor McGregor’s barrister has accused the woman bringing the lawsuit of having “extraordinary selective amnesia".
The MMA fighter, and his friend, James Lawrence, are being sued for damages arising out of the alleged rape of Nikita Hand in the Beacon Hotel in December 2018.
35-year-old hair colourist, Nikita Hand, claims she was raped by Mr McGregor in the penthouse suite of the Beacon Hotel.
He denies the allegation, claiming they had consensual sex twice.
In his closing address to the jurors today, Mr McGregor’s barrister, Remy Farrell SC, accused Nikita Hand of trying to write a significant witness in the case out of her account, because she knew she wouldn’t be backing up her version of events.
He also asked the jurors to look at Ms Hand’s behaviour after the alleged rape, pointing to CCTV footage of her in the hotel.
The barrister said her lawyers suggest it was “delayed shock", but pointed out that no evidence was called to back that up.
He pointed to lies she told her boyfriend about her whereabouts and who she was with, and what he described as “an elaborate fabrication” she told her manager later that night.
Mr Farrell also accused her of injecting falsities into her account to add detail and texture to make it sound like the truth.
