The Dail is Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is to call in the board of St. Vincent's Hospital after claims of fraud by Senator John Crown.

The Senator, who is also a consultant at the hospital, says he has evidence that staff at St. Vincent's charged private health insurers for cancer drugs which were free.

He has told the Seanad that staff at the hospital back in 2002 were deliberately and fraudulently charging private health insurers for the drugs that had been provided for free.

He says he first raised the matter 10 years ago but while an investigation was launched, it was subsequently dropped.

Senator Crown says he is happy to go through the papers with the Minister for Health.

The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, John McGuinness, told Lunchtime here on Newstalk anyone not cooperating will be compelled to do so by the Committee.
