Cork City Council is launching a new app which gives real time information for users of the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

Motorists can download the app for free from the Apple and Android stores and, before setting out on their journey, check for unexpected closures and monitor traffic levels via the live video feed.

Other features of the app include live tunnel lane statuses, planned closure dates and times, alternative routes for closures and city centre parking.

There will also be live Twitter updates and safety information for tunnel users, including FM radio frequencies that the public can tune into.
