Gardaí in Cork hope to be given permission by doctors today to speak with a man who was the victim of a stabbing over the bank holiday weekend.

A man in his 20s underwent surgery at Cork University Hospital after being stabbed in the hand during a row at a house party in Fermoy late Friday night.

Gardaí in Fermoy were alerted to the incident at around 11.30am on Saturday, by which time the man had already been taken to Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí believe there may have been up to half a dozen people in the house at the time the man was attacked and injured.
