Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot has won a Grammy Award for songwriting.

The Cork musician was one of the co-writers on SZA’s track ‘Saturn’ which picked up ‘Best R&B Song’ at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles last night.

Ducrot was made famous for his singing and songwriting through TikTok, with his debut album Victory released in October of 2023 to chart topping success.

The musician received the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year with his track ‘Heaven’ and has since played a series of high-profile concerts in Ireland and abroad.

Elsewhere, Beyoncé won Album of the Year – the most coveted award of the night - with her chart-topping country album Cowboy Carter.

The singer had famously previously missed out on the award four times, despite being one of the most awarded and most nominated artists of all time.

Including earlier wins for ‘Best Country Album’ and the ‘Country Duo/Group Performance’ award for her song featuring Miley Cyrus, the 67th Grammy Awards has elevated Beyoncé’s lead as the most-awarded artist in Grammys history to 35 awards.

Mere days before he plays the iconic Superbowl Halftime Show, US rapper Kendrick Lamar scooped up two of the other top awards.

Lamar won ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for his “diss” track ‘Not Like Us’ which is allegedly aimed at fellow rapper Drake.

The song also picked up ‘Best Music Video’, ‘Best Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap Song’.

Collecting her first Grammy award – the coveted ‘Best New Artist’ gong - Chappell Roan called for the music industry to provide a “liveable wage and healthcare for artists”.
