A rescue effort is now underway of the 108 metre long Abuk Lion, which was fully loaded on its way to Russia when the engines failed yesterday afternoon.

It's currently 30 nautical miles from the old head of Kinsale.

The Valentia coast guard says a tug boat has now attached a tow rope to the ship and it's being towed to the port of Cork.
