The number of new cases of the virus has now remained below 100 for five days in a row.

Speaking about the latest figures, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: "To date, 87% of confirmed cases diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered.

"This is very positive news but should not deflect from the impact this disease has had on individuals and families.

"In addition, it does not change the risk for any one individual who is diagnosed with the disease today, or in the future."

There are currently 53 COVID-19 patients in the country's intensive care units, with one new admission in the past 24 hours.

321 confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being treated in hospitals today, including 16 new admissions over the past day.
