Officials have announced 381 new COVID cases have been announced this evening.

No further virus-related deaths were reported.

It takes the death toll in Ireland to 4,921 and that national case total to 253,189.

This morning, there were 124 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals – down five on the same day last week.

There were 31 in intensive care – a 22.5% decrease on last week.

Of the cases announced this evening, 188 were in Dublin, with 39 in Donegal, 30 in Kildare, 13 in Limerick, 13 in Cork, 13 in Tipperary, 13 in Westmeath and the rest spread across 15 other counties.

The 14-day rate in Ireland now stands at 129 cases per 100,000 people.

Donegal still has the highest rate in the country at 260.7, with Kildare and Westmeath also dealing with rates higher than 200.

There are eight countries with rates between 100 and 200.

As of Saturday, 1,827,610 vaccine doses had been administered in Ireland.

Some 1,327,821 have received their first dose – around 35% of the adult population.
