Coronavirus: 42 new cases and no further deaths in Republic

There have been 42 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Republic.

No further deaths have been reported today - the eighth day in a row without a coronavirus-related death being reported.

It brings the total number of cases to date to 28,760, after two previously confirmed cases were denotified.

15 of today's cases are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed cases, while six cases have been identified as community transmission.

24 cases were in Dublin, six in Limerick, and the remaining 12 are located in Carlow, Clare, Galway, Kildare, Longford, Offaly, and Sligo.

As of this morning, there were 33 COVID-19 patients being treated in the country's hospitals - including three new admissions in the past 24 hours.

The number of cases in intensive care units remains stable at five.
