Bob Weighton, who is believed to be the world's oldest man, has described his 112th birthday celebrations today as a "dead loss" due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Mr Weighton, who is from Hampshire in the UK, became the world's oldest man after the previous title-holder, Chitetsu Watanabe from Japan, died last month.
He celebrates his birthday today in self-isolation and not with family and friends as planned.
It comes after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced severe new restrictions on movement earlier this week as governments around the world attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Mr Weighton told Sky News that this year's birthday is "a dead loss as far as celebration is concerned".
He said: "Everything is cancelled, no visitors, no celebration."
Mr Weighton was ten years old when the outbreak of the Spanish Flu pandemic killed millions of people in 1918.
He said the "world is in a bit of a mess" now due to the uncertainty caused by coronavirus, but that being in self-isolation has forced him to become more self-sufficient.
Mr Weighton said he is cleaning and reading books, as well as constructing model windmills, to keep busy.
