An inquest into the death of journalist Eugene Maloney who was allegedly attacked in Dublin city centre has heard a post mortem found he died of a brain injury.
The 55-year-old was walking home on Camden Street in the early hours of the morning on June 24th.
The inquest opened at the Coroners Court in Dublin today.
His brother Sean gave evidence of formally identifying the body at the city morgue while Gardai told the Court that a man has been charged in connection with the death of the journalist.
Coroner Dr. Brian Farrell gave the cause of death as a brain haemorrhage.
He then adjourned the inquest until the trial is completed.
21-year-old trainee mechanic Gary Burch of Kennington Close in Templeogue has been charged with the manslaughter of the 55-year-old.
He is in custody while the book of evidence is being prepared and is due to appear in court again later this month.
