A man has told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court he was groped by a now retired surgeon while being examined for a cyst on his chest in 1964.
He was giving evidence against Dr Michael Shine of Wellington Road in Dublin 4, who is accused of indecently assaulting him and five other boys.
The abuse is alleged to have happened at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and Dr Michael Shine's private clinic on nearby Fair Street on various dates between 1964 and 1991.
Opening the prosecution's case today, Bernard Condon said Dr Shine was a general surgeon at the hospital during that time.
He told the jurors they would hear from six men who would tell them they were being treated for various complaints when they claim they were indecently assaulted.
The first complainant called is now 65.
He said he was 13 when Dr Shine examined a cyst on his chest in a cubicle at the hospital.
During the examination, he said he moved his hand down towards his genital area and left it there for up to a minute and a half while he rubbed his tummy with his other hand.
He said he was told "it all works together".
Dr Shine is facing eight charges in total. He denies them all.
