The man who picked up Marioara Rostas in a car as she begged in Dublin said he was bringing her to McDonalds for food, a court has heard.

Alan Wilson (35) of New Street Gardens in Dublin denies murdering the Romanian teenager who was shot four times in the head and dumped in a shallow grave in a wooded area of Co. Wicklow.

He is alleged to have killed her at a house on Brabazon Street in The Coombe between January 7th and 8th 2008.

The Romanian teenager was last seen begging on Sunday January 6th at the junction of Lombard Street behind Trinity College.

Her brother Dumitru, who was aged 13 at the time, told the Central Criminal Court that she got into a car with a man as it stopped at the traffic lights.

He said the man told him they were going to McDonalds for food and then gave him €10 which he dropped on the ground as the wheels of the car started rolling.

Sean Gillane SC for the prosecution asked for a description but Mr. Rostas said he could not remember the man's appearance.

There was also evidence a 'frightened' and crying Marioara Rostas spoke by phone to her older brother Alexandru in Romania the following day.

The court heard she told him she had 50 cents to talk and that she was out of town. She twice asked for her Daddy to come get her and tried to describe letters on a sign, before the phone cut off.

The jury has been told to return to court on Thursday morning. In the meantime the trial will continue in legal argument.
