A court has heard how a meat cleaver was held to a worker's throat during the robbery of a petrol station in Dublin.
Shane O'Connor of Brookview Avenue in Tallaght is accused of taking part in a number of violent robberies earlier this month.
On August 12th, a gang burst into a shop in Clondalkin armed with a meat cleaver and a wheel brace.
Gardaí say the men - some of whom wore masks - stole some cash from the till and assaulted a customer, before stealing his phone and car keys.
Phones belonging to the workers were also taken. Less than 15 minutes later, a petrol station in Palmerstown was robbed.
A meat cleaver was allegedly held to a female worker's throat and almost €2,000 was taken.
Mr O'Connor (32) was charged in connection with the robberies, and he applied for High Court bail today after his application was refused in the District Court.
The father of one was granted bail on condition he stay with his father in Tallaght and sign on daily.
A file is currently being put together for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who will ultimately decide how his case should be dealt with.
