The appeal against the imprisonment of Sean Quinn Junior for contempt of court is to get underway next Tuesday.
He is serving a 3-month sentence in Mountjoy Prison after the High Court found he breached orders aimed at unwinding a multi-million Euro asset stripping scheme.
He was jailed in July by Ms. Justice Elizabeth Dunne who described the contempt of court as ‘outrageous’.
A warrant is out for the arrest of his brother in law – Peter Darragh-Quinn – who should also be in jail but remains free after he failed to show up in court.
Bankrupt business Sean Quinn was the 3rd family member found to have breached court orders restraining a scheme to put international property assets beyond the reach of the former Anglo Irish Bank – now the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) – which claims the family owes it €2.8 billion.
However he remains free so as to assist the IBRC.
Lawyers for Mr. Quinn Junior today secured an order allowing him to be produced at the Supreme Court next Tuesday and Wednesday for an appeal hearing against the finding of contempt and his jail sentence.
