There have been 1,751 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ireland today.

The five-day moving average of new cases now stands at 1,584 - a further decrease compared to yesterday's figure of 1,633.

Latest figures from the HSE show there are 343 patients with COVID-19 being treated in Irish hospitals - a decrease of 17 compared to yesterday.

Of the patients currently hospitalised, 59 are in intensive care - up three on yesterday's figures.

Meanwhile, new data released today shows 117 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past week were linked with 27 workplace outbreaks.

It's a significant jump from last week's figures of 48 cases from 16 workplace outbreaks.

This week, there were nine new acute hospital clusters reported with 53 linked cases.

11 outbreaks were reported in childcare facilities, with 34 confirmed cases.

Two outbreaks associated with social gatherings led to 25 confirmed cases, while there were three clusters from religious ceremonies (linked to 22 confirmed cases).
