2,148 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Ireland today.
Today’s figures bring the five-day moving average to 1,937 - up from 1,890 yesterday.
NPHET also says a further 63 deaths related to the virus have been reported in the past week.
As of this morning, there were 464 patients with COVID-19 being treated in Irish hospitals, a further decline on recent days’ figures.
However, the number of patients in ICU has risen to 86 - up from 74 yesterday.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says disease incidence is high "and increasing across the country and across all age groups".
However, he said vaccination has helped prevent many serious illnesses and deaths.
