Ten more COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in Northern Irish hospitals taking the total there to 134.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases in the North now stands at 1,967 after 85 more patients were diagnosed.
It takes the death toll on the island of Ireland to 499, while the number of confirmed cases on the island has hit 12,614.
Health officials in the Republic have now completed seven times more COVID-19 tests than their counterparts in the North.
Northern Ireland’s Department of Health said it has now carried out 13,095 COVID-19 tests, while the HSE has carried out 90,646.
Meanwhile a further 768 deaths in Britain has brought the total in England, Scotland and Wales to 11,973.
There have been 91,906 confirmed cases of the virus in Britain to date.
The breakdown of COVID-19 patients that have died in UK hospitals is:
- England - 11,005
- Scotland - 615
- Wales - 403
- Northern Ireland - 134
However, as the figures only include hospital deaths, the death toll is believed to be far higher.
The latest figures from the UK Office for National Statistics show that one-in-ten of the deaths in England and Wales in the week ending on April 3rd occurred outside hospitals – with half of those recorded in care homes.
The UK’s Chief Medical Officer said on Monday that 13.5% of England’s care homes have recorded cases of the virus.
Data from some European countries suggests that around half of COVID-19 deaths have been happening at nursing homes.
Nearly 40% of the Republic’s confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in nursing homes.
