A further 2,098 PCR-confirmed COVID cases have been announced this evening.
Meanwhile, 2,630 people registered positive antigen test results through the HSE portal yesterday.
This morning there were 933 patients with COVID in Irish hospitals – the first time the figure has dropped below 1,000 since March 13th.
There were 58 in intensive care – up five on yesterday and the same figure as this day last week.
Since PCR testing was restricted for the under-40s in mid-January, the National Public health Emergency Team (NPHET) has reported positive antigen test results uploaded to the HSE portal alongside PCR-confirmed results.
When both are included, the five-day moving average is now 4,340.
