The Haddington Road agreement has received the backing of two more unions.
67% of members of the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) have voted to accept the public sector wage deal. While it has also been endorsed by members of the Civil and Public Service Union (CPSU) which represents civil servants on lower pay grades.
Speaking today, Steve Tweed, Director of Industrial Relations at the IMO, said that acceptance of the proposals was a difficult choice for IMO members to make.
"Our members who are at the frontline in the health services have taken the decision to accept the Haddington Road proposals. Feedback from members has made it clear that this has only be done on the basis that the HSE and the Department of Health now deliver on their side of the agreement" he said.
Mr. Tweed also warned government that the separate, but parallel, issue of the onerous and dangerous working hours that Non-consultant hospital doctors are still expected to work each week has to be urgently addressed.
The CPSU executive committee had recommended a No vote and says the vote was not an endorsement of the agreement but was forced by the government through intimidation and fear.
The turnout at 64% was down on the 82% turnout for the Croke Park 2 ballot which was rejected by 87% of those voting.
So far only UNITE has rejected the successor to the Croke Park Two deal while a number of unions are still balloting their members.
